Can a mixed vehicle carrying only the driver ever use a high-occupancy vehicle lane?

High occupancy VAO lanes can be used by the following vehicles:

  • Motorcycles
  • Cars
  • Vans
  • Adaptable mixed vehicles
  • Public transport vehicles
  • Goods transport vehicles up to 3,500 kg

These vehicles must carry two or more occupants, except if they have the declaration of vehicle for persons with reduced mobility or physical limitation and a disabled sign, in which case only the driver may circulate.
