In case of a breakdown of a motorcycle on a roadway, how should it be signaled if it becomes an obstacle for traffic?

A motorcycle stopped on the roadway due to a breakdown must be made visible to other traffic, and the quickest legal warning (when fitted) is the bike’s hazard warning lights (“emergency lights”). That’s why the best answer is “with the emergency light if available”.

• Why not triangles: DGT explains that motorcycles are not required to carry warning triangles, so they cannot be the mandatory solution for a bike.
• About V16 (2026): from 01/01/2026 the connected V16 becomes the mandatory and only legal pre-warning device for immobilised vehicles in Spain, replacing triangles—however, for motorcycles DGT treats V16 as recommended, not mandatory.
• Safety focus: the goal is early warning to reduce the risk of secondary crashes while the rider gets to a safer position and requests assistance.
