Whenever you are driving on poorly lit interurban roads, such as the one in the image, between sunset and sunrise, you should use your high-beam headlights in order to see the road better, except when there is oncoming traffic in the opposite direction, in which case you should quickly change to low-beam headlights to avoid blinding the other drivers.
