What is the ADAS system known as AEBS?

View explanation

AEBS stands for Automatic Emergency Braking System, and it is one of the most important features within the broader category of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).

The main function of AEBS is to help prevent collisions or reduce their severity by automatically applying the vehicle’s brakes if the system detects an imminent crash and the driver does not respond in time.

This system continuously monitors the road ahead using sensors such as radar, cameras, or lidar. When a potential collision is detected—whether with another vehicle, a pedestrian, or a cyclist—the AEBS system issues a warning to alert the driver.

If the driver fails to take corrective action quickly enough, the system automatically engages the brakes to slow down or even stop the vehicle.
